My biggest fear was that my underpants were going to show. (Girls actually used to be afraid of that. Imagine!) Before the 70's, we girls had to wear dresses to school, no pants, even in the winter. Picture a 10-year-old girl with her books in one arm and her lunch sack in the other standing in the back of a bus at the emergency exit. Where is the extra hand to hold down the skirt? Big hands would reach up to snatch the girl, ready or not. Whoosh! Up goes the skirt. Down comes humiliation. the boys and men must have had a grand old time. I remember being so mortified that I never looked around to see anyone else's reaction. Just what was the principal clocking? Number of panty-sightings?

Oh, the good old days...

NancyNancy Petehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09418472730288967683noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4904164150534193483.post-58838658107707650582014-07-01T10:57:43.634-07:002014-07-01T10:57:43.634-07:00Probably a good preventive measure. Not to date us, but do you remember the drills in the 1950's when someone yelled "the Russian ICBM's are coming" and we were all supposed to hide under our desks? I married a Russian and I still have the urge to hide under the desk when I hear her on the stair.
